A website called brickhouse security has a product that works with all phones with a sim card. Its a USB device that reads the sim card. Doesnt matter if he/she tried to delete them if they arent overwritten then you can read the deleted text messages. The product is around $150
Go to your settings and click on messages... on that menu, scroll down til you see INBOX SETTINGS... Click on that.. On the next screen click on AUTOMATIC DELETION and chose how often you want your texts to delete themselves
