I put clear packing tape on the places where they like to scractch - the posts beneath each arm rest. This takes most of the fun out of it for them and they got the point. Yelling "no!" and clapping my hands loudly is another good deterrent, but that's only for when you actually catch them in the act.
You pick it up and move it
The couch
In some cases, the cat may be afraid or uncomfortable. This may happen when loud noises occur, is in a new environment, or there are "strangers" in the household. After gently calling the cat and showing all is fine, leave it be. At some point it will come out. If the cat persists on staying under the couch, try coaxing it with a can of food, cat nip, cat treats, or a toy they love.

Use te attachment on a vacuum for curtains on the couch.
A Couch in New York was created in 1996.
Because some couch makers put cat food in the couches..... just kidding i dunno
the cat is leaving its scent
Because the floor is made of lava. It was a cat-astrophe.
The duration of A Couch in New York is 1.5 hours.
The opposite of an adventurer is a couch-potato.
A cat often does things we humans can't make sense of. This is one of them. If we remember that cats (and dogs, BTW) are smell driven not sight driven, we can understand them better. Your new cat has to mark her new home to sort of tell eveyone (read all cats) this is my property. The clothing and couch did not have the cat's smell, so it had to get urinated on!
I saw the cat spring from the couch.
