If you loved and dated a guy and now he just wants to be friends, probably he has another girlfriend or someone else that he likes. Perhaps it would be better for you to move on and forget him.

∙ 12y agoThen just be friends my bet is if if he's a responsible guy and many responsible guys usually say they want Tobe friends first!! I say be friends, coz it could be that he wants to check you our from afar or he has another chick which he feels obliged to stay with but at the same time doesn't want to lose a friendship!!! But you be on the lookout when that relationship ends!!!
Believe me you do not want to chip in a relationship he could be in as it usually turns messy just be a friend and check him from afar as well!!! No harm coz you will have gathered all your needed data before anything happens!!!

∙ 15y agoAccept this as a permanent breakup; keep in mind people often ask to be 'friends' during a breakup in an attempt to cause you less pain and hurt. Some time and space from your ex would be good for you for awhile---it's easier to clear your head and get over you feelings for him if you aren't regularly in contact with him. Let him know that you need space and ask him not to contact you for some time. Then keep your mind and time occupied with other things.
You don't have to hate your ex, but it's rare that exes can be friends successfully, unless they already were good friends before any relationship started. You will have to have moved on from your feelings for your ex, and no longer want a relationship with him. You would have to see your contact with him as 'friends' only---no flirting, no hooking up, no long conversations about feelings. You have to view him and treat him the way you treat any of your regular friends.
