It's time to see your doctor. Bleeding this heavily isn't good for you and generally there is nothing super wrong, but it needs to be controlled. Be aware that your doctor may want to put you on Birth Control pills to control the bleeding and this is something you should make yourself aware of by looking it up on the web and decide if you want to go this route. If you don't want too, or this bleeding doesn't stop then your doctor may want to do a D & C on you, which is a scraping in this area. It's not that bad. Please get to your doctor and don't let this go on. If anything, it can be embarrassing and you could stain your clothing. I went through a super plus tampon and a pad within an hour. It turns out that I had an ovarian cyst.

Some women just have naturally heavy periods, especially if in their teens, and it's not always a sign of a problem but it's important to get checked out to make sure there's nothing wrong. Your doctor should run tests and offer treatment like Tranexamic Acid to reduce menstrual flow. It's also a good idea to consider menstrual cups, these hold more than tampons and unlike tampons can be worn throughout your period so they are more convenient and reliable with heavy flow, menstrual cups also don't leak like tampons and can reduce flow too.

As long as your flow is sufficient for the absorbency, yes. General rule of thumb - use lowest absorbency; if the tampon leaks within 1-2 hours use the next absorbency up, if the tampon is not saturated with blood after 4-6 hours use lower absorbency or switch to pads. Even if the tampon is a lower absorbency than needed chances are you will not bleed through within just one hour.

If you're going through a super or ultra absorbency tampon within an hour then you need to see your doctor, possibly go to an emergency room if the bleeding is heavy enough to suggest hemorrhaging or if you start to feel ill. If you're leaking through a lighter absorbency tampon then it may simply be that you need a higher absorbency tampon for your flow. Heavy flow itself is not a problem, if you're in your teens your flow may tend to be heavier, if your heavy flow continues it's best to talk to your doctor about lightening it with tranexamic acid and looking into why it's heavy.
