Depending on the severity of the treatment your girlfriend is getting from her brother. Obviously, you do not want to instigate any fist fights over trivial things. If the brother is physically abusing her, there are other ways you can handle the situation. Standing up for her is a noble jester, but it may not justify the end. Talking to the parents and warning them that she is receiving abuse that you can report to the authorities may be enough for them to correct the situation. Inform them that you will not stand for this abuse and it needs to stop.
