At 6 weeks old it should still be with its mother! Rabbits shouldn't be weaned off their mum until they're 8 weeks old.

Baby rabbits should not eat fresh veg or fruit yet, their digestive system can't cope and it could even kill them. A weaned rabbit should be on unlimited hay (alfafa is ok for growing babies, but it's too high in calcium for adults), unlimited water and junior rabbit pellets (not free fed!). Veges can be introduced very slowly from 12 weeks, a tiny bit at a time.

8 week old rabbits should have unlimited access to fresh water, high-quality rabbit pellets, and alfalfa hay, and that's all they should eat. At 12 weeks, you can start (very carefully and gradually!) introducing fresh leafy greens into the rabbit's diet. See the related question below for more info and helpful links.

Give your 11-week old rabbit unlimited access to pellets, hay, and water. This is what baby pet rabbits eat when they're weaned. Because they're still growing, they can eat as much as they want.

Hay - hay is one of the most important thing for your pet rabbit. It helps wear down their teeth like nothing else does. It's also really good for their digestion (rabbits have sensitive stomachs). It also keeps them entertained! Alfalfa hay is best for baby rabbits.

Pellets - not all rabbit pellets are good. Lots of them are basically junk food. Choose a plain pellet, NOT a "muesli" (the sort with seeds, grains, fruits, veggies, coloured bits etc). Read the "nutritional information" on the label and make sure they're healthy: at least 18% fibre, between 13-16% protein, 1-3% fat, 0.5-1% calcium.

Water should be clean and fresh. If it's in a bowl, replace the water and wash the bowl every day. If it's in a bottle, replace the water and wash the bottle (and the sipper tube; use bottle brushes) every couple of days. (If you notice algae growing, though, clean it more often. Depending on where you live, algae may grow more quickly in your tap water.)

At 12 Weeks

You can start introducing leafy green vegetables, like dandelion, carrot tops (just the tops!), herbs (mint, cilantro, basil, parsley), lettuces (like romaine, Boston, chicory).

Whenever you introduce a new food to your bunny, you should be careful, or else your rabbit can get sick. Start with just a bite or two, and over a week or so slowly increase the portion. Stick to just one new food at a time. If your rabbit shows any signs of illness, stop giving that food. See the related questions below about rabbit diet and health.

At 6 Months

You can start introducing treats, like carrot, apple, or berries. Just a bite or two per day.

At 7 Months

You should start slowly transitioning to an adult diet. This means restricted pellets, and grass hay instead of alfalfa.
