Most likely a "Trade name" made and sold around the turn of the century.
Check the barrel and receiver
It will be marked on the receiver/barrel.
The barrel will have 'Made in Belgium' on it. The receiver can be dated by serial number.
Barrel and receiver
Check the receiver, barrel(s), under the barrel(s), under butt place.
Made in 1934.
No, not neccesarily. Some American made auto 5 shotguns say on the barrel: "Browning Arms Co. St. Louis Mo." Nowhere will it say made in Belgium if this is the case. If the barrel is correct to the receiver and the barrel says made in Belgium, then it is.
On my 1950s vintage Ithaca Model 37 16 gauge it is on the right side of the end of the receiver where the magazine tube and barrel go into the receiver, and also on the barrel adjacent to the number on the receiver. The numbers should be the same on both the barrel and receiver unless the barrel is not the original barrel, at least on mine they are.
It was made in 1964.
Check the receiver and barrel
between the stock and the barrel
This is a lightweight 20ga A5 made in 1966. The barrel should be marked for 2 3/4 shells. ***If the barrel is marked for 3" shells then it is not the original barrel. It is not safe to shoot 3" mag shells with the standard receiver.
