almost always steroids in regards to hormones r lipid soluable

What are the parts of the plasma membrane?

The plasma membrane is made of phospholipids. Phospholipids contain a hydrophillic head group which is considered water soluable. They also contain a hydrophobic tail group whichi s considered lipid soluable

Is sugar is soluble in alcohol?

Yes, sugar is soluable in alcohol. I am assuming you mean drinking alcohol although it is soluable in all organic alcohols. The hyrdoxy (-OH) groups on both the sugar and the alcohol allow for hydrogen bonding, making sugar very soluable in alcohol. Hydrogen bonds are also the reason sugar is so soluable in water.

How do hormones produce their effects?

Steroid hormones diffuse into cells being lipid-soluable and may enter any cell in the body. They bind a specific protein molecule - the receptor. This activates mRNA transcription.

Why can only molecules that are fat soluable permate a cell membrane?

The cell wall itself is made of lipid. To be more precise, the cell membrane is made of a bilayer of phospholipids. The hydrophobic fatty acid tails prevent water-soluble molecules passing through, but allow the transport of lipid-soluble molecules.

What is the solubility of boric acid in glycerol?

Diacylglycerol = non polar molecules Non polar molecules tend to be lipid soluable, (except in cases such as glucose) It is most likely lipid soluable because when it is cleaved off of the phopholipid, it stays in the membrane...

Are all antioxidants fat- soluble vitamins?

No not all of them is fat soluble anti-oxidante there are two types water and fat soluable antioxidante such as Vitamin E is a lipid soluble antioxidante and vitamin C is a water soluble
