There are different opinions about this:
- I don't think age should be a concern, if she knows what shes doing and does it well than there shouldn't be any problem.
- Well it is in fact a problem--it is more appropriate for males to have a male doctor and visa versa. I assume from your answer its ok for a male doctor to examine a young teen girl? The facts are, that young adults and children for that matter start developing modesty at around 5 or 6, it is a good thing to encourage this. The Doctors, and Nurses for that matter, want to desperately tell you that they are androgynous, have seen it all to it is no big deal, etc. So easy for them to say that when your the nude one in the room. I cannot understand why the medical profession does not or will not recognize this common , very human trait. There is nothing wrong with someone wanting same gender care. I have not met one teen male who would be comfortable being examined by a female Doctor or Nurse for that matter. Do your kids a favor parents, give them the choice, especially for males, Why do you think we do not go tot the Doctor? Childhood experiences that's why.
