In normal use this is not a problem, as the brakesare applied with limited force and ..... Disc brakesare used mainly on mountain bikes ridden off-road.

You could check at a local bike store. There are BMX bikes, mountain bikes, road bikes. The main differences are the types of tires, suspension, and brakes.

Applying any kind of brake too hard and too fast can cause the rider to fall, period. Disc brakes tend to be more powerful than rim brakes, so an inexperienced rider needs to pay extra attention.

What is the difference between mountain bikes and road bikes brakes?
Same reason as a jeep won't do as well as a NASCAR car on a racetrack. The MTB is built heavier and stronger to be able to stand jumps and drops, which the road bike isn't expected to have to hold up to. The MTB riding position gives better view but more wind resistance than the road bike. Road bikes can have real aerodynamic and slim tires, while the MTB need wider more knobbly tires for traction on dirt. With that said, a MTB w/o suspension but with slick tires can make a real good bike for city/urban riding. Good overview, good brakes, nimble, rugged and manouverable. Usually speeds during urban riding isn't high enough for the improved aerodynamic of the road bike to mean much. Road bikes tend to be lighter, and faster on downhills.

disc brakes are usually used on the front of a car is because the braking ratio for any Car is 70 / 30 ........70 percent of the braking power goes to the front 30 percent goes to the back also if you had disc brakes on the rear of the Car and you slam on (emergency stop) the brakes would lock and you would slide all over the road

Do disk brakes or rim brakes work better on a road and hybrid bicycle?
This is debatable. Disc brakes are proving to be more powerful in real-life usage. However, rim brakes are closer to the circumference of the wheel, which scientifically is the ideal position for a breaking unit. But due to the nature of the design, rim brakes are dependent on the condition of the rim for their performance. And rims get dirty, wet, warped and whatnot. Disc brakes however deliver consistent performance regardless of the condition of the rim, and the disc is a lot less likely to get wet/dirty or damaged. For a flat bar hybrid it's pretty much a no-brainer, but for a drop bar road bike some consideration may be required as there's a definite shortage of disc brakes that work with drop bar brake levers. Mechanicals are fairly easy to hook up, but so far hydraulics are pretty much out of the question. There are a couple of adapters available, and the occasional custom hack though. We may be seeing more stuff in this range soon, as it's rumored that the Cyclo -Cross crowd are about to allow disc brakes in races. And thats' where you'd find the biggest interest in putting disc brakes on drop bar bikes. As a rider, a 203mm front disk provides huge amounts of stopping power with minimal effort from a single finger. Disk breaks are simply better and make more sense.
Why do rear brakes brake first?
All four brakes should engage at the same time. You probably need to bleed your front brakes. If road conditions are wet or you haven't driven the car in a while, drum brakes sometimes "grab". Many cars have rear drum brakes and front disc, this could be what you're expieriencing.
