There may be a problem with the relay on the ignition switch. There may also be a problem with the battery it may be have enough juice to run the light and radio but not enough to turn over the engine.
look for the problem in the ignition switch.
I had the same problem on a gmc truck. The problem was an in line fusable link
If a 1987 Chevy Suburban has lights and horn, but no ignition, gauges, radio, or interior lights it could be a ground wire problem. It is possible that there is a short somewhere. Also check the dome light for a possible water leak in the headliner.
Turn your key in the ignition on but DO NOT turn the vehicle on. (You should be able to raise and lower your windows if you have electric windows on your vehicle) You should see lights on your dashboard light up. Press on your acclerator pedal slowly a few times. Everything should reset itself. Hope this helps.
Not too sure if this will help. I have a Volvo 1995 S90 with a similar problem - power windows, indicators and dash lights all were not working. I found that it had to do with the ignition. When i turn on the car and discover that these aspects are not functioning properly i twitch the key a millermeter towards me and they all fire up.- Could be a different problem, but thought you might want to know...Volvo AnswerNot too sure if this will help. it may not be you ignition relay, but your alternator.
What kind of auto is it. Sounds like you may have an ignition switch problem.
Have the ignition switch checked. As they age they don't make contact intermittently.
Astra ignition lights? Don't want to be sarcastic, but what do you actually want to know here? On most modern cars,Astra included, when you turn the key,all the warning lights come on as a "self test",then go out as the ECU checks the items they pertain to.The ones which stay on are ignition/charge lamp and oil pressure.Once the engine starts, these too should go out, unless you have a problem.
