Best Answer

AOL is an abbreviation for America OnLine. It is an internet service provider that rose to prominence at the turn of the millennium through its notorious and pervasive free trial CD mass marketing efforts. Now part of Time Warner Cable, the service is widely used to this day, although the company has had to diversify it's offerings and provide web search and instant messaging services in order to attract new clientele.
