Isaiah chapters 54 and 55, written by Second Isaiah shortly before the Return from the Babylonian Exile, are messages of hope and jubilation. Having endured so much, the Jews now believed that a wonderful future awaited them back in Jerusalem. With the support of the Persian liberators, the Jews would be secure, so no weapon will succeed against them. Any who speaks against the Jews will find themselves condemned in turn by the Jews themselves. The Lord has promised them this.
Verse 55:1 goes on fancifully to tell the people that they can have their fill without price. The future will be glorious.
