When it was first conceived in 1918 the Lithuanian flag was meant to show the national colours of Lithuanians, often found on national clothes. After the 2nd independance in 1990 (from Soviet Russia) it is taken to be: Yellow - for the sun that shines on Lithuania

Green - for the fields that give life to Lithuania and Red - for the blood of Lithuanians, shed to protect their country.

It has three stipes. The colors are yellow.green, & red.
