testament means promise/covenantthe Old Testament is that God would take care of us with the Ten Commandments, and if we repented after sinning and changed our evil ways, we would be forgiven. However, nobody can change their evil ways because all humans are sinful creatures, imperfect. This is because Adam and Eve (The first humans) disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit
So, to save us from our sins, God sent his perfect Son, begotten not made, Jesus Christ the Messiah (HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!) to die on the cross. The New Testament is the new promise that if we accept Jesus as our savior, admit that we are sinful creatures in need of a savior, and ask God for forgiveness and to come live in our hearts, we WILL BE SAVED!!! :D which is really good news for everybody...
See, the problem with sinning is, when you sin, you have created a HUGE chasm between you and God. God can't even be around sinful things, they just BURN UP and stuff... so we could never be with God without help. The wages of sin is death (it says in the Bible somewhere that exactly, but I can't remember where), eternal separation from God. Hell is experiencing God's eternal wrath, your punishment for sinning. Because God is a fair and just Judge, he has to abide by his own rules. SO if you don't accept Jesus you GO TO HELL...which is DEFINITELY not a fun place to be :O
