Is it legal for a 16-year-old girl to move out of her parents' home in Michigan to the the parents of her boyfriend in Florida and could her parents do anything if she married her boyfriend?

Legally no, but there are many runaway teens out there in every city. What you have to ask yourself if "what is so bad at home that I feel I need to run away?" Is it because they are your case to smarten up and get those grades up; they don't happen to like your boyfriend; they have grounded you; they don't like you staying out late or drinking. These are not good reasons. They are your mentors and it's their duty to teach you to be wise and they love you enough to set those rules because they want you to be safe. If you are mentally or physically abused then that is a different story and you can go to Children's Aid and get help. I warn you, these people at Children's Aid know when a teen is "putting it on" so unless it's true don't go there.

I think you're pretty smart, so why not sit down and really think this out. Calm down, then sit down with one or both of your parents and discuss what you don't think is fair and LISTEN when your parents try to express their feelings as to why you may not get your way all the time.

If you feel running away because you just don't want to follow the rules in your parent's home is the answer it's not! Every large city is ready to "eat you up" and before you hardly are off the bus, train or plane there are guys around every corner (some right in the airports) that love young girls like you. They are older, smarter and know how to coerce you into doing things you never would dream existed in this world. Please think more about this before you leave.

Think about it. Have her parents and relatives given their support? IF not does she think she could bring up her child without her parents' help? Is her boyfriend responsible enough to care for both of them? If she thinks that her boyfriend can, then go ahead, talk to her family about this, contemplate the changes she would have to make in her life and then see how it goes. Give it a trial run of a month or so and see what he is really like then, i mean, has it been a long relatioship or brief really? Tell the girl to think about these things beforehand, deeply thinking. No, the age of majority in Florida is 18, with no stipulations regarding a minor being pregnant. However, Florida law does permit a minor who is at least 16 and pregnant to be married w/o parental or legal guardian consent. The minor must present a notarized statement from a licensed physician attesting to the pregnancy. If the minor finds herself in a situation where the parents refuse to support her or the home is too stressful or in someway abusive, she should contact state Department of Children and Family Services for assistance. In some cases a judge will grant the teen emancipation so she may receive public assistance such as Medicaid for her and her child. If you're less than 18 years of age, but older than 16 years of age you can get a marriage license with parental consent. if you are under the age of 18 then you can get your gaurdian to consent to your marriage and you can marry whom ever you want. if you cant get a consent from your gaurdian you can go to the courts and if they find a good enough reason they can give you consent to marry.
