Not unlike the President's cabinet, every hotel has a group of individuals that consult the general manager of the hotel on a regular basis. These individuals are in charge of their subsequent areas. The titles vary from hotel to hotel, however they generally include the following: Resident Manager- Also known as the hotel's assistant manager, he is the hotel's second in command. Finance Director- Third in command. This person is in charge of all of the finance related decisions. It is usually company policy (and mandated these days for publicly held hotels) that he signs off on any hotel expenses. Food and Beverage Director- Usually fourth in command, this person is in charge of all food and beverage related hotel entities. Rooms Division Manager- In charge of housekeeping, reception, valet, and all non-food related hotel entities. Can be fourth or fifth in command.
