First of all, a solid line means it's a no passing zone

Second of all, a yellow line means it's a 2-way road (traffic going both direactions).

So a double solid yellow line means that traffic is going both ways (stay on the right if you're in America) and that neither lane can pass (going around a car in front of you).

What does a double solid yellow line in the center of the highway mean What does a double solid white line in the center of the highway mean?

A double solid yellow line in a highway is not to be crossed at any time for any reason. It is similarly thought of as an island or median but for a road that does not have the capacity, space or traffic to be placed.

Means do not cross yellow line....NO PASSING the car in front of you....

A double solid yellow line in the center of the highway is there to separate the two directions of traffic. In most cases, you should not cross that line. On a two-lane road where passing is allowed, one line (or both) will usually become a dashed yellow line. Some locales do not allow turns off the highway across a double yellow line.

(in the US) They both mean the same thing - NO PASSING AND/OR NO MOVING OUT OF THAT LANE.The double yellow line means that there is opposing traffic in the opposite direction and you may not pass. The solid white line means that although the traffic is moving in the same direction, you may not move out of that lane.

A solid double white line in the center of the highway that separates two lanes of traffic that are going in the same direction means no passing. It is prohibited to cross the solid double white lines.

Do not pass if the line is on your side of the center white line

A double solid white line separates two lanes of traffic going in the same direction. Crossing a double solid line is prohibited.

A double yellow solid line means do not pass in that area. They are usually found near hills, curves or congested areas.

No passing when driving in that direction while it is solid.

No passing by traffic travelling in your same direction.

Double solid yellow is between two lanes of traffic with oppsing directions. This indicates no passing a vehicle that is traveling the same direction by moving to the oposing lane momentarily. You have to stay in your lane. Solid white is a line between two lanes going the same direction, but indicates changing lanes is not admissable unless safety concerns exist. Again, you have to stay in your lane.

It means you cannot pass. If you had a dashed yellow line, you would be allowed to pass.

That you are traveling on a roadway with opposing traffic, no passing is allowed.
