It grows a little bit. Reptile skins are not infinitely flexible thus as the animal grows it needs to shed its old skin and grow a new, large one.

How can you grow back a leopard gecko's nails?

A leopard gecko should not ever "loose" its nails. The animals shed their skin but nothing else. If your leopard gecko has lost fingertips, this is more than likely due to the animal having an irregular shed. Every leopard gecko setup must have a humid hide for this reason. If a shed is stuck on the limbs of a gecko, the dead skin will start to cut the circulation off to the finger/toe tips.

Would it hurt a leopard gecko if you peel its shed off after a little while if it won't come off?

Let the skin shed on its own. The new skin has to form completely so the shedding may progress in stages. After shedding, the gecko will normally eat its skin to recover the remaining proteins.

Is it possible for a gecko to shed its skin too often?

Not really - it's an 'automated' process that usually happens to allow the gecko to grow. Reptile skin doesn't stretch like ours does, and has to be completely renewed periodically. It's the gecko's decision when this needs to happen.

Do Geckos shed their skin?

Yes, geckos eat their skin. But first, their skin will get all white as they prepare to shed it off. Eventually, after about a week since their skin started getting white, the gecko will start to chew their skin off, revealing a beautiful new layer of colourful skin. The reason that geckos eat their shedded skin instead of just leaving it like snakes do is because their skin has calcium in it and it is healthy for them. While the gecko is young and still growing, it will shed about once a month, when the gecko becomes full size, it will on shed about 2-5 times a year.

How often do geckos shed their skin?

The younger the gecko, the more often it sheds, but adult geckos will normally shed about once a month. my gecko is a baby and it is shedding again sense 2 weeks and the babies shed more which is a good thing because its growing, but the adults dont shed much because they cant grow anymore.
