Most oil sending units have a wire or two coming out of the tip of them. They are very short with usually a wide base, like 22mm ish. Yet the compression threads that go into the block are small and fine. It's not going to look like much and would fit easily in the palm of your hand totally. Before I end, I just thought of a good description. It looks like a child's top or raddle.

The oil sending unit is typically located in the lower section of the engine block and drops down into the oil pan. May also be referred to as the oil pickup. If you remove the oil pan, you can't miss it.
On the drivers side next to the distributor.

The oil pressure sending unit is mounted to the oil filter housing on the back of the engine. If you look up from under the car at where the oil filter is there is a wire connector that attaches to a piece on the side of where you screw the filter on. That is the oil pressure sending unit.

The oil pressure sending unit is located on the oil filter housing. Look above the filter and you will see a single wire going to the unit. You will need a sending unit socket to remove it. The tool can be purchased at any auto parts store for a nominal fee.
IF ITS NOT LOW ON OIL IT MOST LIKELY IS AN OIL SENDING UNIT .YOU MAY WANT TO HAVE SOMEONE LOOK AT IT ...THE SENDING UNIT COULD START PUKING OIL AT AND TIME IF ITS BAD
It could be many different things like the oil sending unit, the plug to the oil sending unit, oil leak (low oil), or the oil pump are the most likely causes. Most of the time if the oil level is fine it ends up being either the oil sending unit or the plug.
