The Jewish Star, known as the Star of David, is a six-pointed star formed by two superimposed equilateral triangles. (see link.) A five-pointed star in a circle has a number of different meanings. It is used widely throughout the U.S. with many variations, as a representation of law enforcement, particularly in the Southwest U.S. (see link.) The five-pointed star formed by interwoven lines of equal length, within a circle, can also represent the nature religion, Wicca. The five sides of the star represent the five sacred elements of earth, air, water, fire and spirit. (see link) A five-pointed star, often with one point larger than the others, pointing downward, is also associated with Satanism. (see link.) Ironically, the same five-pointed star, with one long point directed downward, is used in Christian art as the Star of Bethlehem, pointing the way toward the Christ Child. (see link.)
