You have to be fairly careful when acid washing this sort of thing as acid eats the cement that holds the pebbles in place as well as the stuff you are trying to get of the surface. do a test spot and see what happens, or better still have a talk with a pool builder about it.

When back washing there is res resistance in the water being removed through the skimmer basket. It would seem that you need a little more water in the pool to stop it from being sucked empty.
