My mother seems to tell me this alot. It means that you have to take responsibility for everything that you do. You are responsible for YOU!! Anything you may do whether it is right or wrong you are to take full responsibility. Its also a great trust builder if you are lacking in that particular area.

I am thinking that they may have issues with being held accountable for their own actions. I have had the same issue with my partner and have yet to figure out a way of getting him to see why he needs to be accountable for his poor choices. The person who is wrong will be the angriest. Because he has made a poor choice, he knows he is wrong and he will be angry when you remind him or hold him accountable. If holding him accountable means bringing it up and not letting his mistakes become the past, then you should re-think your choice to hold a grudge. If they are mistakes which need to be taken care of, then you should gently guide him to resolve the problem - pushing too hard will only cause him to push back.
