Your relationship to your son is nothing to do with your relationship to his mother. Married or not, you must relate to him.
Children need parents of both genders to grow properly. This is tru to the extent that parents in single parent households will often seek out surrogate role models for the missing parent. Your son needs both his mother and his father.
Being there for him means that he knows that he has a father, that his father loves him, and that his father visits him and spends time in his company. And you can do so much more than that if you live close enough.
I am separated from my 3 year old daughter, but when I walk into the yard she shouts "Its my Dad" to her friends and runs to me. That's what 'being there' is all about.
if your mom has not been married to your mom's husband , then you wouldn't have born to ask the question. first of all it's 'marry' and second, people find ways of having children and not being married every day.
