Answer There is a dip stick at the back of the engine. Start your engine first, let it run and check your transmission oil level. You only check transmission oil levels when the engine is running, other oil levels have to be checked when the engine is warm to hot but not running.
== Sensor== There is a sensor in the oil pan that when the oil level is as low as the pick up it give you a warning, so check your oil. Whenever the oil light is on, it means that the engine oil pressure is below a specified level. It usually means that the engine bearings (rods and/or mains) are excessively worn. It CAN mean that the engine out of oil or that the oil pump has failed. In any case, it means that the engine is ready for a rebuild. Running the engine without oil pressure will cause serious damage potentially making it unrepairable.
Your oil compression is down probably... check the oil pan for rust and such.
check your oil level?
You can check it when the engine is cold and you should check the oil level in your engine when the engine has sat for at least 30 minutes. This way all the oil has drained back into the oil pan and you will get an accurate reading on the dipstick.
