In many Native American cultures sea creatures have a lot to do with sexual organs. For example penises, vaginas and anii (plural for anus). The crab has two main meanings, the first of which is that you are susceptible to venereal diseases, specifically pubic lice, yet all though you have these problems you can swim quite well, and can ignore insults. The other meaning of the crab is that you suffer from incontinence. Generally if a crab is on a totem pole it means that the are was once a toilet/a place where people had sex.
