average is like the normal amount of normal thing ;)
Normal Prions are shaped like a coil. Mutations in genes that code for these proteins occur, causing the proteins to be misfolded.
DNA is a very long strand of a molecules, made up of four bases connected in pairs and spiraling into a double helix. Sequences of these bases are what make up genes.
Because they share a number of genes in common. That's correct, people all get a set amount of chromosomes from their father, and a set amount from their mother. Chromosomes determine what you look like, and because you share chromosomes with your parents, you're more than likely going to look like them.

Every living thing on this planet has genes. What genes mainly do is tell your body how to build itself. They are like a construction plan. The genes go on from generation to generation. The father's genes go together with the mother's genes and the result is something that is like the parents. Basically, the cub closely resembles its parents just like you resemble your parents.
When genes are linked, they are very likely to be inherited together - meaning that once one gene has been inherited, the chance that the other will be is not 50% (meaning it is not random like other genes). Because linked gene are not affected by crossing over. Thus these are not segregated according to the Mendel's principal of segregation.
