Freon is a gas at room temperature and a liquid when cooled or compressed. Freon gas is colorless, non-flammable and relatively odorless. Some Freons have an ether-like odor.

How do you lose volume in freon other than a leak?

A leak is the only way to loose volume of the freon charge. Freon is in a sealed system and it does not get used up. If your system is tight the freon will last forever. However a restriction in the freon lines can cause the freon pressure on the low side to look like it is low but the freon is really stacking up in the condensor.

How do you put freon in a 2002 Chevy Tracker?

when you pop the hood on your tracker on the right hand side there will be a silver aluminum hose right up front near the radiator, look for the part that looks like you were able to "air it up" like a tire....thats where you put your freon :) hope this helps.

Can we use freon ourselves?

There is many different types of Freon. If the freon that you are trying to use is R-22 then you have to have a EPA certification to handle that freon. This freon is considered ozone depleteing. Now there is freon out there that is not ozone depleting like the freon in cars made after 1993. That is called R-134a which is sold everywhere even in Wal-Mart.

Freon for a 92 Mercury Sable?

The only freon available is R134a. Your car most like came with R12. That means it will have to have the system evacuated at a shop, and then be converted to the R134a. Look at the fittings where the freon is to be introduced to the system....if they are screw on, then your car needs to be changed over to the newer refrigerant....if they are quick connects, you simply need to add R134a.

What freon is in a 1984 Chevy 454?

Standard automotive freon WARNING the stuff is VERY EXPENSIVE! You might want to look into converting it to R-134A type refrigerant. It is a lot cheaper due to the federal regulations of freon.

What kind of freon to use in a 1991 suzuki sidekick?

I have a '92 and it is Freon 12. There are a couple of ways to tell. 1. There is a sticker under the hood that will tell the type of freon and the amount. 2. The best way is to look at the freon input connection. Freon 12 is a 1/4" flare fitting and freon 134A is much larger. A freon 12 system can be converted to 134a with a kit that is very available. They make these kits because freon 12 is unavailable and is now illegal to sell.
