What does friends with benefits mean for teens?

Friends with benefits is becoming popular in today's culture. For teens, it may not involve sex as it does in adult relationships, but it does involve a certain level of intimacy that would normally be shared in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship such as hand holding, cuddling and kissing. The problem with this is that it involves all of the physical aspects of a committed relationship without the commitment. There would be no expectations with regard to an emotional connection. Most experts agree that in the long run this can lead to an underdeveloped ability to obtain and maintain a satisfying relationship which should include commitment and emotional as well as physical stability.
