Gold was the color of absolute purity. GOD, for 480 years dwelled in the holy Ark of the covenant (which was overlaid with pure gold) after the children of Israel came out of the land of Egypt. Then in the 4th year of Solomon's reign over Israel he began to build the house of the LORD. The house of the LORD was overlaid with pure gold, where he dwelled until after the death of his only begotten son Jesus, when the Vail was torn.
