This means that even though you turned him down that he still likes you and just is mad that you said no. Yeah, it sounds like he got his feelings hurt, which is natural when someone feels rejected. If you get a chance, you might say to him, "Hey, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I just wanted you to know that even though I don't look at you as a boyfriend for me, I think you're still a really great guy."

If you're more worried about friends, family, and school, I wouldn't worry about it to be honest, you can try to be friends with him if he accepts but, otherwise I honestly wouldn't worry about it.
