I just got my 2003 Intrepid back from the shop. Exact symptoms - bad oil sending unit.
The alternator is located at the front of the engine , on the lower right side. It comes out from the bottom, remove the front cross member beneath the radiator and it comes right out.
It means that there is a problem with the emissions system. Have the computer scanned with an OBD2 scab tool to retrieve the code that has been set.
The Chilton Manual 20360 comes with all this information
The vehicle speed signal comes from the transmission output speed sensor.
It does not have a cable. The speed signal comes from the trasnmission output speed sensor.

The Check Engine Light should be on if the sensor is faulty. The car may or may not hesitate, stall, or accelerate poorly. To read the engine error codes, cycle the ignition key from "off" to "on" three times: Turn the iginition key to the "on" position where the check engine light comes on but do not start the car. Turn the ignition key to off, then on, off, and on again and leave the key there. The odometer will read out any error codes. P0340 and P0344 are trouble codes for the camshaft position sensor.
The battery light comes on when the alternator is either over or under charging. If the alternator tested good you have a wiring or computer problem. The engine computer is the voltage regulator.
