Some way or another, gas is getting into your oil. This could be worn piston rings, bad fuel pressure regulator, or a severely flooded engine. if you have a carb, your float needle seat could be in need of replacement. If your oil smells of gasoline, CHANGE IT IMMEDIATELY. It will dilute the oil and possible cause an explosion.
If engine has fuel pump mounted on the engine then it is leaking gas into crankcase.
too much fuel in your cylinders!
if the oil smells like gs, this means that your fuel system ,usually the carburettor, is leaking fuel into the block, take it to a mechanic
you have gasoline leaking into the engine when stopped could be a faulty injector
it means you have a cracked head or blown head gaskets. does the car overheat?
This is normal, especially on older model cars and trucks. Change the oil and try to keep it changed every 3000 miles or so. The only time I would worry is if the oil is milky (indicates water in oil), smells like gas, or extremely low (not touching dipstick)
Depends on the smell. if it smells sweet, like antifreeze, then it is probably a leak in the heater core. This is a small radiator that runs from the main radiator and makes hot air for the heater. If it smells like gasoline, may be a gas leak. Do not drive the car, get it fixed by a professional. If it smells like smoke, it may be an oil leak. get it checked.
Oil Can? Oil pressure low?
If the dipstick of a 1999 Mercedes ML320 smells like gasoline there could be a gas leak dripping into the oil pan. The engine needs to be checked for leaks to avoid any serious damage to the vehicle.
well it would actuly smell like regular oil but in the water
You probably cracked your head gasket and now have water or antifreeze mixing with oil. Check under your oil fill cap if it looks like a slimy milkshake cahnces are that's the problem.
That means gas is getting in the oil. Many things cause this i.e. hard starting/leaky or dirty fuel injectors. The fuel that is being called from the tank will go past the combustion chamber into the oil if flooded. A tuneup may help this. Whenever your oil smells like gas, change the oil as soon as possible because the gas in the oil can do damage over time to some major internal engine components.
