check your idle control valve located behind the engine
when the engine starts and is warming up the idle is supposed to be at around 1500 rpm but when the engine warms up the idle should drop to between 700 and 1000 rpm. if it doesnt drop then see a mechanic because it is a very complicated fix
what car is it on... year make model... engine size/ auto or manual trans. That's a VW only code-idle speed control low input- problem with tps on throttle body most likely. R&R.
You have to fix the cause of the trans codes.
That code is an idle air control overspeed error. It means that the engine idle is out of factory specification. Sometimes the Idle Air Control may have carbon built up so clean it and if that does not fix it, replace it.
Check the air filter is not clogged. Get a garage to read the fault codes and fix it.
yes you can drop the trans and get to it
I have the same problem with my 03. I havent figured out the check engine light but take it to a dealer and they will fix the idle problem. they know about it and if you take it to them they'll fix it for free. it has something to do with the computer needing to be cleaned out.
there are two freeze plug between the engine and tran. have to separate the trans from the engine. I just replace mine took me a few hours. . did not have to take the engine or trans out... just had to loosen the trans mount and took out the axles and starter..need two jack...good luck
Correct the idle by adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body if all else fails replace the idle control module located upper center of firewall usually. Hope this helps
Depending on what you mean by fast idle you may not have a problem. When you turn on the defroster the A/C compressor comes on. This extra drag on the engine will cause the idle to go up slightly. Unless it is excessive, this is normal.
A whining sound coming from the front of the engine would make me think one of the bearings is wearing out in the belt assembly. This is something you should fix promptly.
