Hi from my own experiances i think it possibly is the alternator not charging.if you have a multimeter set it to dc volts and connect to the battery(+ to red and black to -) and when the engine is running see what volts are reading.it should say between 13.6-14.4 ish.i think the battery is in the boot so you mite need someone else to help you.if you cant do this just go to any garage as they know how to do this.
Your alternator is defective and not recharging the battery. Have the alternator checked.
It's alternator time.
alternator, or a wire to alternator loose
The alternator warning light monitors the charging system. When the light comes on it means the alternator has failed and you are running on the stored energy in the battery. You'll have anywhere from 5 to 30 miles to get to a repair shop depending on how many electrical devices are using the batteries power,ie.radio,lights,wipers,etc.
Usually when the battery light comes on its the Alternator, or a bad wire from Alternator to battery, but id check Alternator first.
Usually that means either, The battery has a dead cell and needs changing, The battery is being over taxed and is experiencing large voltage drops, or the alternator is malfunctioning. The alternator could be charging the battery and then not charging for a long period of time. This will cause the battery to get low pinging the warning light then later shutting off when the alternator starts charging again. There are many auto part stores you can take it to, for a free test of the battery and alternator.
The battery light comes on when the alternator output voltage is too low or too high. You have a wiring or regulator problem. The battery light comes on when the alternator output voltage is too low or too high. You have a wiring or regulator problem.
Defective alternator or bad wiring.
Faulty Alternator?
Got same problem!Ny battery has been checked and i drive car my lights dim it cuts out!Could be your alternator or a wiring fault too battery or alternator! Are your pulley belts tight? My battery is on cxharge nopw but going too the autobreakers to get a newish alternator !Hope this helps try fiatboo.co.UK that's a good site all the best a disgruntled Fiat Brava driver!
this could be a bad earth connection It also could be an indication of "low" battery voltage, low alternator output, or engine idle speed is set TOO LOW. j3h.
Either the battery is weak and not charging properly, the connections are dirty on the terminals of the battery or the alternator is not putting out enough power. If you rev up the van does it go out or is it on while you are driving?
