It's wrong. Batteries charge at a rate given in Amps. Amps per hour means the charging rate is increasing. Battery capacity is often stated in units of ampere-hours, which means that so many amps are needed in 1 hour, or half so many amps in two hours etc.

How many amps do you need to charge a 12 volt battery?

the time it takes to charge a battery is governed by the amps the higher the amps the quicker the recharge time. Excessive charge rate will 'cook' the battery and it will be scrap. It might even explode and cover you in acid.Use a proper charger and check the correct charge rate for your particular battery.

Why Battery light on and gauge says charging?

your gauge only measures volts. not amps. when alternators get tired sometimes they wont produce enough amps to run the car. your computer might see this where the gauge still says 12-14 volts. basicly your running off the battery. if that doesnt work then check battery for poor cell. last call put tape over the light, lol. good luck

Could a car battery be bad if you check the battery and AutoZone says it good saying its at 50 percent?

A battery that is only at 50% is not a good battery unless it just needs charging.

You are replacing your Audi tt with a new battery the old battery says 280 amps the new one says 460 amps will this do any damage to your car your mates says it could blow the computer system on start?

No, your mates are wrong. The figure of Amps is the CCA or Cold Cranking Amps. Your old battery had 280 CCA and the new one has 460 CCA. Cold Cranking Amps is a rating used in the battery industry to define a battery's ability to start an engine in cold temperatures. The rating is the number of amps a new, fully charged battery can deliver at 0° Farenheit for 30 seconds, while maintaining a voltage of at least 7.2 volts, for a 12 volt battery. The higher the CCA rating, the greater the starting power of the battery. You are good to go, and in fact you made a wise purchase and have a much better battery now. Remember a 12 volt battery is a 12 volt battery, so rest easy, and tell your mates they know not of what they speak.

Battery light stays on got new battery still says and keeps stopping and about 5 minutes later will go about 2 blocks and die again?

Your vehicle's charging system is not working. It is running only off the battery power. You need to have the charging system tested to determine what is at fault.

Can you use and charge and battery at the same time?

I kinda wonder that myself...I am running my 12v LED computer fan from a 12v battery pack from my Ryobi drill with the charging cable inserted into the battery...it says its charging, and my fan is running...So, I will see if it doesnt explode...fingers crossed...
