What does it mean when the air conditioner on a 1997 Geo tracker is working nicely but suddenly stops working all together and doesn't even turn on?

check for blown fuse in fuse box Hi, The unit should have a relay and it sounds as if it gets stuck when hot or a fuse blows. You don't mention if the air works after a while sitting or if you changed a fuse. The compressor could also have become inoperastive, this can happen when not used for a while and the seals dry out and the compressor stops working but I don't think that has happened because if the compressor freezes the pulley would stop and the belt would burn so I need to look for a relay, and I don't have air but I'll keep looking.
