It maens that a trouble codehas been set. It could be very minor, but check it out. Some auto zone stores will pull your codes for free. Your vehicle has the OBD II diagnostic system so in any case you will need to have the code extracted to find out the problem. Good luck.

To determine the cause of a 'service' light activating, you need to have someone with the appropriate equipment connect to the car's computer to read the code for a particular problem.

The check engine light (service engine soon) comes on and stays on when a problem is detected by the self diagnosis system of your vehicle.

The shifter knob on a 1995 Chevy Cavalier is thread on. To remove it just spin the knob counter clockwise until it comes off.
