This is the exact same thing on my 04 explorer, Does anyone have an answer? You need a Blend Door Actuator.. They are fairly cheap at Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts. The hard part is getting to the blend door. You have to remove a section of your dash. The actuator is located on the drivers side where your right leg would be if you were sitting in the vehicle. I wouldn't pay to have it done. I just replaced mine. You just have to be patient and remove one bolt at a time until you reach it. hope this helps!
