This word means like when something has a shape and sinks or floats.
The fecal matter that floats is less dense than water, and the fecal matter that sinks is more dense than water. Also, feces that floats might mean that you maintain good fiber! Which is excellent for your colon to be clean! However, fat is also lighter than water, so floating feces could mean you have a lot of fat in your diet.

water sinks in water, or rather, oil floats on water, and does not mix
Something that neither floats nor sinks, stay in the middle of the tank or water subject it's in. Exp: bamboo with a balloon neither floats nor sinks in the tank. It stays in the middle on the 4 gallon tank.
If it floats....Don't eat it. It's rotten. If it sinks....It's perfectly fine.
From what I can gather from reading other posts, feces that floats is high in fiber. Some say it is from not digesting fats properly or eating too much fat. I choose to believe it is the fiber as I have not had so many happenings until I started eating a high fiber diet.I cannot see that it is a problem from what I have read.
The rock that sinks has a higher density than the rock that floats. (The only rock that floats is pumice.) More specifically, for a rock to float it must have a lower density than the fluid it is placed in. This will mean that a given volume of the material will have a smaller mass (and hence weight) than the fluid it displaces. As such the material will have positive bouyancy and will tend to float on top of the more dense material.
This has got to do with weight and density. A ping pong ball is extreemely light. A golf ball is heavy. If the golfball sinks, that mean that Water of the same volume weigh less. IE the golfball is heavier than water. Regards.
