I usually use for "what is that". The suffix "ka" is Japanese for question

here is the breakdown with correct spelling...

nan- what

desu- is

ka- ?

I'm pretty sure it just means "isn't that so?" or something like that. At the end of a sentence it could be like "..., right?" I could be wrong.
