Among other things, it may refer to a non-standard (non-SI) unit of pressure, "pounds per square inch".

Psi is a Greek letter in the Greek alphabet (uppercase Ψ) (lowercase ψ).

When it is used in mathematical form it is called The Reciprocal Fibonacci Constant (Fibonacci discovered it) and it equals approximately 3.35988566243177553172011302918927...

PSI is an acronym for pounds per square inch a measure of pressure. The "real" term in most applications is "psig" or pounds per square inch gauge, which indicates that the pressure reading shows the pressure above atmospheric pressure (measured in psia - pounds per square inch absolute).

Pressure readings are also given in inches of mecury, Pascals, and kilopascals

Typical pressure readings:

* Atmospheric pressure: 14.7 psia, 760 mm Hg * Auto Tire pressure: 30 psig (43.7 psia) * Racing bike tires: 80 psig
