There is no such thing as "random only memory" The two main types are: RAM: random access memory ROM: read only memory ROM is memory that does not change, it is "read only" the system reads it, uses it and never changes what is stored within it RAM allows random access types, reading, writing, moving. Its fully adaptable to whatever it is asked to do from moment to moment.

RAM or Random Access Memory is Tempory memory which your computer uses to load programs such as windows or games Your Hard Drive is an example of permanent memory on your computer where you can save documents/games etc. So when you load up your PC the computer reads the HD and loads up your OS (eg Windows) into your RAM.
The computers memory card.
RAM can be edited/modified many times, while ROM usually cannot be modified. Some ROM can be changed slightly, or reset by exposure to UV light. but most of ROM has to be sent back to the factory if there is an error with it's contents.
Serial- reads and writes in sequence. Like a cassette tape and maybe a floppy not sure. Random- Can read and write between non continuous data. CD, DVD. Parallel-reads and writes portions of data in parallel using separate lines or mediums. Such as an Ethernet cable- its made up of about 8 wires each wire sends a bit of data parallel with 7 other bits to send 8 total bits in parallel .
