Y2K has come and gone, and the world didn't end as many feared. The alleged world-ending prediction of the Mayan calendar has come and gone, and the world didn't end, again, as many feared [or were they hoping?].

And if this question is in regards to the latest growing concern among the apocalyptic internet crowd who seem constantly on the watch for the next "world-ending crisis" about to come upon the earth: just like the last two omenous Internet threats to "life on planet earth"... the newest threat of the coming series of "blood moon" phases that's quickly taking hold of the Internet's nervous population is also NOT ADDRESSED IN THE BIBLE.

As usual, there are those who point to a few "proof-texts" in The Bible to make their case. But a thorough study of the prophecies regarding Jesus' return to the earth to establish His Kingdom here [which is not what most of the world is concerned about... much less, believes]... reveals that the prophecy regarding the "sun and moon" not giving their light, in which the moon then turns "blood red," does NOT OCCUR until AFTER the three-and-a-half YEAR GREAT TRIBULATION.

The last I read in the newspaper [if anyone can believe what they're printing], the Great Tribulation hasn't even begun yet. So, the "blood moon phases," if I recall correctly, are to occur in 2015 and/or 2016? Which, if the Great Tribulation would begin today would place these "blood moons" within that prophesied time frame.

So, no... the Bible doesn't talk about this newest "global Internet threat."

Of the "blood moon" spoken of in the Bible; it says:

"IMMEDIATELY AFTER the TRIBULATION OF THOSE DAYS shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heavens shall be shaken: and THEN shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven..." (Matt.24:29-30 KJV).

Although this passage in Matthew 24 doesn't say "blood red" or apply any color to the moon; the "sixth seal" of Revelation 6 supplies another perspective to this same "end time event," which actually corresponds to Jesus' description of it in Matthew 24.

"...when He [Jesus] had opened the sixth seal... the sun became BLACK [there's the color] as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as BLOOD [which we normally think of as RED; but which actually looks BLACK when spilled]..." (Rev.6:12 KJV).

The "Literal Bible" [LIT] says: "...the moon became like blood...".

The "New Living Translation" [NLT] says: "...The sun became as dark as black cloth, and the moon became as RED as blood."

However... the key thing to remember about what the Bible says about this prophesied "blood red moon" occurence is that "God is going to cause it to happen, SPECIALLY " to prevent "all life on earth from ending" -- and not the "naturally occurring cosmic event" that we see shaping up in the near future.

"For those will be days of Greater Horror than at any time since God created the world. And it will never happen again. In fact, unless THE LORD SHORTENS THAT TIME OF CALAMITY, THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE WILL BE DESTROYED. But for the sake of His chosen ones He has shortened those days." (Mark 13:19-20 NLT)

The Bible speaks of ONE RED MOON, to occur just prior to Jesus' return. And He's going to "personally bring it about" after three-and-a-half years into the Great Tribulation, to prevent man's suicidal efforts [World War III?] to kill off all life on planet earth from coming to pass.

"The sun will be turned into darkness, and THE MOON WILL TURN BLOODRED BEFORE THE GREAT AND TERRIBLE DAY OF THE LORD ARRIVES." (Joel 2:31 NLT)

There's just ONE RED MOON the world should be concerned about, according to the Bible. And the world will be right in the middle of the prophesied, globally horrifying, distressful, life-threatening Great Tribulation when God causes it. By then, the present Internet crowd will not be sitting idly at their computers and I-phones [if global communication hasn't already been knocked out by EMP] casually watching it come to pass.
