If the symbol resembles a a U with an exclamation point and there are square ridges on the bottom of the U that means you have Low Tire Pressure. If the symbol is a complete circle and resembles a sun with an exclamation point in the center it means it is a exterior light that has burned out.

The red exclamation point in a circle is the parking brake indicator.
The warning light in the bottom area of your tachometer that looks like a circle ( gear ) with an exclamation mark in the middle is your " check transaxle " ( transmission ) warning light . If the light stays on take your vehicle in for servicing
It's the TPMS warning light. "Tire pressure monitoring system"
It means warning. Check your owners manual first. Usually its Brakes or Brake fluid.
The tire pressure warning light on a 2008 VW Jetta City , parenthesis enclosing an exclamation point, can be reset once the pressure is restored. Press the set button on the dashboard.
It definately means you have bulb out...this just happened to me and my turn signal/brake light is out.

In the Chevy Aveo, the exclamation point warning light in a circle, means that the air pressure is low in one or more of the tires. This is per the owners manual.
