That is a pure political question.
No biblical assistance at all. It is not a biblical question. It is a social/cultural/political question.
If you can find it, you might be helped with the articles of incorporation, the history of the church, general information from the big church in the sky, i.e., the sort of home depeto of the denomination.
(One side point: there might be something in one of Paulan stuff in the non catholic New Testament, Don't count on it, and send a referece if you find instdructions on how to deal with errant-in-somebody's opinion pastors.
