in general terms it means there is an internal fault with the electronic auto transmission. could range from faulty solonoids to major fault with transmission
If there is a flashing S on your Ford Falcon AU on the dashboard that is a warning. The S on this model means that your vehicle needs to be serviced.

If its an automatic then your either in winter or a low gear(not flashing) or transmission fault(flashing arrow) But if its manual the non flashing arrow is the recommended time to up shift.
if you have lights and it swont start, you can look on dash and see if your security light is flashing. If so turn your key to the on position and leave it their for 10 min. or until it stops flashing. then you should be able to turn of the key and then try to start car like normal.

With the key in the off position, hold down the trip odometer reset button until the dash lights start flashing. When it is all done start the car, and see if it reset.
Start by finding a 1958 ford falcon. Ford didn't start production till 1960 model year. If you mean the dash board, it's welded in place. Not a removable part.
If you try to start the car it should start then turn off by itself, just leave the key in the run position and the "Theft System" light on the dash will be flashing. Leave the key on for about 10 minutes and the light will stop flashing and go on solid, then the theft system is disabled.
