The Sun heats the atmosphere of Venus up tremendously due to an out-of-control greenhouse effect. The average temperature on Venus is 460 C, or 860 F. The surface temperature of Venus is actually higher than that of Mercury.

The greenhouse effect is the heating up of a planet due to the presence of certain gases in the atmosphere. Such gases include water vapor, methane and CO2.

Venus is referred as a "twin" of Earth because they has very similar mass, however Venus probably did not have a substantial ocean. The atmosphere of Venus contains mostly CO2, so the greenhouse effect occurred. There was no ocean to absorb the CO2 so the greenhouse effect kept on going till all the water evaporated.

Today the temperature on Venus is roughly 450 degrees celsius - enogh to melt lead.

What is the process by which gases in the atmosphere absorb and reradiate heat?

Greenhouse Effect

What is a sentence with greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is the natural way that the Earth keeps warm. Too many extra greenhouse gases turn the greenhouse effect into an enhanced greenhouse effect. The enhanced, or accelerated, greenhouse effect is causing global warming.

The trapping of heat by a planet's atmosphere is called what?

it allows solar radiation to penetrate to the surface!

What is another name for enhanced greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect is the natural process by which greenhouse gases keep the earth's temperature at a comfortable level suitable for human existence. The enhanced greenhouse effect is the increase in greenhouse gases that is leading to global warming. The term "enhanced greenhouse effect" is also referred to as the "anthropogenic greenhouse effect" and is the idea that humans may have an effect on global climate. It is also referred to as the "runaway greenhouse effect".

How do you use The greenhouse effect in a sentence?

the greenhouse effect is a global phenomenon.

What do humans do to effect the greenhouse effect?

The greenhouse effect keeps us all warm enough for life. The enhanced greenhouse effect causes global warming.

When did the Greenhouse effect start?

The Greenhouse effect started long before humans were on Earth. The Greenhouse effect is only intensified by the presence of humans.

The effect is the process by which gases in the atmosphere trap heat?

The greenhouse effect

How is the greenhouse effect caused on a molecular level?

The greenhouse effect is caused on a molecular level by the greenhouse gases combing, thus forming the greenhouse effect and that's what causes it to be on a molecular level.

What planet has an atmosphere with a greenhouse effect?

EarthVenusMarsThe greenhouse effect occurs on every planet with an atmosphere (including Earth). On Venus, there is a runaway greenhouse effect causing temperatures high enough to melt lead.Mars has a greenhouse effect that is weak because of its thin atmosphere.
