The I.A.T.S (air intake temperature sensor) does just what it sounds like, it senses the temperature of the incoming air. it does this with a small coil that increases or decreases resistance in the coil. This in turn tells the E.C.U (electronic control unit) what the temperature is. Once the ECU knows the temperature, it sends messages to the fuel injectors telling them how much fuel to put into the incoming air. this makes for the "perfect" air-to-fuel mixture.
