The live wire in the supply cable carries current from the power station to the electrical device that you want to use. The current returns to the power station through the neutral wire in the supply cable.

For safety reasons, on some electrical equipment there is also a ground wire - also known as an earth wire. It is connected to any metal parts on the outside of the unit, such as a metal case, and to any internal metal chassis, motor framework, etc. The ground wire is necessary to conduct away the current which could otherwise kill someone if a fault or an accident happens which damages the insulation of the live wire so that it touches any of those metal parts and gives them a high voltage. That would be very dangerous to the human users of the equipment.

It carries the current. Live wires are at the system voltge, unlike grounds, which should be at ground voltage, ~0.

Live electric wire is the worst wire out of the three (neutral and earth). It carries all of the electricity and if you took the wire you may be in for a big shock!

Where does the wire come from in an electrical circuit?

The wire comes from the installer or manufacturer of the circuit.

In electrical circuits what wire protects the operator?

Earth wire is meant to protect the user in case there is earth fault in the device or circuit. Only earth wire alone is not sufficient. It needs to be provided with suitable circuit breaker that breaks the circuit automatically.

What are all the parts on a circuit board?

to assemble a circuit you just need to connect one end of a wire to the battery and the other to the light bulb ( could be another electrical device) now take an other wire and connect on end of it to the other side of the battery and the other to the other side of the light bulb( or an other electrical device. if your circuit is including a switch this is how you do it: ( you will need three wires for this circuit if you have one electrical device) connect one end of the wire to the battery and the other to the switch.Grab another wire and attach one end of it on the other side of the switch and the other to the electrical device (light bulb). Grab another wire and attach one end of it to the other side of battery and the other to the other side of your electrical device. And there you have it how to assemble a circuit

Does a knot in a wire affect an electrical circuit?

The knot adds extra resistance and inductance to the wire, which in most cases will not make a difference to its performance in a normal circuit operating at dc or power supply frequencies.

The electrical meter that should be connected in series with a live circuit is?

Why are the live wire and neutral wire never joined together?

An electrical circuit forms a loop. The "live" or hot wire supplies the voltage, which is returned on the neutral. If the hot wire and neutral wire were connected together without a load between them, the circuit would be short out and trip the circuit's protection device.

If you mean a bare copper wire, that is the "ground" wire.

Why live and neutral wire essential for proper working of electrical circuit?

Two wires are always needed to supply electrical equipment so that the current has a complete circuit to flow in. One of the wires is earthed at the supply transformer, that one is called the neutral, and the other one is the live.
